This is fantastic Chris! It's always a pleasure to see you've uploaded on YouTube. I have to ask, how are you able to devote so much time to your work? It doesn't seem like you have a way of profiting off of your projects, so I suspect you have some sort of day job, and those are usually very time-consuming. Either way, I'm consistently amazed at the level of fidelity displayed in your work for over a decade! Keep going.
Until more recently I was doing short freelance jobs every so often and making the savings last as long as possible, but selling the human rigs/meshes has removed the need for freelancing now (for some time at least).
Please make a course on it... i read so many article and watched video but no one shows us how to do it....and when i find you video that you have made animated normal in blender i am so much eager to learn it please make a video on how to do it....
Hello Chris. Please please please will you ever sell a course on your rigging workflow and how you create these maps? Please teach us how to do this. All the rigging tutorials this advanced are in Maya or 3ds Max. None for blender.
That would be a big job, and with all the other things I have to do it's unlikely I'm afraid. Note that I'm no rigging expert (I'm just very determined), and much of what I've learned is already out there and freely available. Also you can adapt tutorials for other apps to work in Blender if you can find the equivalent tools.
Amazing as always. I wish I could rig my own faces as good. I just saw your hand demo recently, also amazing! Will this rig be available in the future?
The hand rig is part of the full body rig - I'm considering making it available separately when it's textured, depending on how difficult it is to separate from the body.
Unbelievable!!!) How much is it cost to do my face like this? I have a dream to make an animated movie inside unreal engine, with live link face control.
Hi, Chris! I'm one of the many people who were absolutely blown away by your magnificent creation "Ed," revealed to the world seven years ago. And yet, I remember that it was still a work-in-progress at the time, and knowing that, I always thought that we might see an updated version at some point in the future. I'm very eager to know if you've been able to do anything more with it since then, because it was already a masterpiece, and imagining it perfected according to your standards has left me positively hungry with excitement! If so, please let me know! Thanks!
The video above is a continuation of the same project, reincarnated in Blender. I was hitting too many obstacles in Lightwave so I had to abandon it, and it's taken a few years to catch up to where I was again. Technically it surpassed Ed some time ago, it's just lacking some colour (which will be the topic of the next video).
Ok, then. Lookin' forward to the colorized final product. As always, you're a master at this. And you know something? You ought to apply your skills in Hollywood!
The most amazing 3D face I have ever seen. You are briliant. Saying "great job" is an understatement.
ReplyDeleteLove your work.
Thanks magnuszezi 😊
DeleteHi Chris, amazing work. I'd love to render it on our volumetric display. We are based in Adelaide. See voxon.co
ReplyDeleteIf you could share an ABC file or obj seq, that would be awesome.
You can contact me at Gavin@voxon.co
Thanks !

DeleteGreat job!
ReplyDeleteWhy you don't make a simple version of the rigging for us?
I couldn't do that without just making it worse, and having an extra thing to maintain... which isn't very appealing.
DeleteHo Chris, love your track of this amazing vidéo, possible to share it?
ReplyDeleteActually it's keyframed. :)

It's hand keyframed, I wouldn't know how to configure it for live link unfortunately.
