Version 2.0 Out Now!

Finally! I cobbled a video together mostly from pertinent bits of the full video, and revamped a music sketch I found in my archives.

Here's that product page button again, in all its conspicuous glory.

  1. Awesome work ! This looks so good, even 70 dollars feels like stealing.

  2. Hello, I'm thinking about purchasing the rig but i have a few questions. First, does the rig have a sculpted anatomy shape key that you can enable? It's visible in the clip at the end, i think. And second, will the face rig be a free upgrade if you purchase the rig now or will you sell it separately? Thanks, Ioan.

    1. Hi Ioan, that's there just as an example of how it can look when sculpted; the rig only includes the base mesh and corrective shape keys. I'm considering making a muscle variant that can be added on at some point, either as sculpted multires data or a displacement map (or muscle sim if I can find a way to do that). This will most likely be sold separately. The face rig will also be sold separately, and at this rate is looking like being at a higher price point than the body rig.

    2. When are you planning the next update/product release? I want to see what else is available before I purchase!

    3. There's no strict release plan, best to assume this is all there is, then it will be a nice surprise if and when something else comes out. ;) I'm trying as much as possible not to create a situation where you have to re-buy something in order to gain an extra feature though, if that's what you're worried about.

  3. Can I use this with Three.js? I don't think I'll be able to protect the model.

    1. I'm not too familiar with Three.js, but if the model can't be protected then I'd say probably not.

  4. Will we have access to future updates to this rig for free if we buy this now, or would we have the buy the new rig again?

    1. Fixes and refinements are free, as well as any extra features that can't be split out into separate products (as with the customisable proportions in this update), or ones that make more sense to be included. It's best to assume the current features are the extent of it, and anything else that's added is a bonus.

  6. Hey Chris, just tried to buy it on gumroad. It says its sold out when I checkout. Is it not for sale anymore? Cheers

    1. That's odd... what was the issue/solution?

    2. When I tried checkout through the main gumroad site it wouldn't work. it said it was sold out or something. When I clicked 'Buy Human' on here it worked first time. Strange.

    3. Strange indeed. Just a one-off anomaly I hope.

  7. Hi, the add on doesn't show up in the list after installation, is the name of the file human base? is there a detailled installation guide somewhere?

    1. It's not an add-on, it's a .blend file. You load it into Blender, no installation is necessary.

  8. Hello, a few days ago I deleted purchased file from my PC. How can I get them back? Without paying them again. Thanks Frantisek Herbrich

    1. You should be able to log into your Gumroad account and download it from the product page I would assume (I've never actually bought anything on Gumroad to be able to test this in practice though).

  9. This might be a silly question, but how do you get rid of the goemetry lines from the male/Female base mesh without turning off the entire overlay?

    1. If you're seeing wireframe on the shaded model, it could be due to one of three things that I know of: either you're in Edit mode, Wireframe is enabled in Viewport Overlays, or Wireframe is enabled in the Object Properties under Viewport Display.

I might be misunderstanding the question though.

    2. Nope! You understood the question perfectly. for me it was the object properties viewport display, thanks for the quick response.

    1. No idea, someone reported they have it mostly working in UE though after some effort, if that's any indication.

  11. Hi Chris. Just bought your rig and I'm very impressed. However, I notice there are no controllers for the eyes and the transforms are locked off. Is that something you might add later...? I'm a big fan of your realistic eye rigging and was looking forward to peeking under the hood.
    Cheers.

    1. Hi Pete,

The eye rig will be included as part of the face rig, and as mentioned in the product description the face rig will be a separate upgrade (so as to keep to cost down). So you might want to consider a refund if you were only after the eyes.

Bear in mind the face is likely to be more expensive than the body though, and also I might consider an eyes-only version if there's enough demand and I can resolve some logistics.

  14. Hi Chris Been following you for a little while I know its hard for you to tell, but how long do you think itll be before we get to purchase your faces rig. I really love all your work and cant wait for more.

    1. The rig is ready, but I have to sort out some other things before I can release it. Before the end of the year is looking good at this point though.

  15. Hi Chris,
I'm an illustrator / concept artist and I plan to buy this to add some quick and dirty 3D in my workflow. I have basic knowledge of Blender (I can make basic assets, create a scene and lighting).
You make it seem really easy to use in the videos. Do you think a mostly 2D artist with basic Blender knowledge will be able to quickly pose a character in a scene in order to render then transition back to Photoshop ?

    ReplyDelete

    1. It's hard to say, although if you're comfortable with basic navigation and object manipulation in Blender you shouldn't find it too difficult I don't think. Bear in mind most of the videos are recorded in time lapse though, so it won't be as quick as that to set up a pose. You should be able to get a better idea of what's involved from the reference chart. Feel free to contact me directly if you're still unsure.
