Melbourne Animation Festival

My festival run had apparently run out of steam, so I decided I might as well submit The Passenger to the Melbourne International Animation Festival, since it's virtually just down the road and all. Well, I'm happy to report it's been selected, and after rummaging around the MIAF site I've found that no less than three screenings are scheduled! They are:

International Program #2 - Tuesday 17 June, 8.15pm acmi cinema 2
International Program #2 (repeat) - Sunday 22 June, 1.45pmacmi cinema 1
Australian Panorama - Saturday 21 June, 2.30pm acmi cinema 2

Re-Encoded Trailer

Some people were having playback problems with the high res version of the trailer, and I've finally replaced it with a newly encoded one. See how that goes. It's a wmv file this time, marginally better in video quality but less than half the size. I've stubbornly kept the 5.1 mix intact, so like the other one it will need Windows Media Player 10 or above to work properly (theoretically).

Incidentally, there's now also a flash version of the low res one.

1st Post Of The Year!

And it's only May! I better slow down before the whole internet clogs up with my blog.

Just thought I'd better point out that I do in fact still exist, and have been busy on another external project which has kept my own projects dormant long enough for the Desktop Cleanup Wizard to pop up and try to persuade me to put my shortcuts in the bin. Little does Mr Cleanup know, I've been opening the files from their original locations and chipping away at them from there. Take that, Wizard of Desktop Cleanliness!

So what this means is that while progress on the DVD is now moving even slower, I'll actually be able to afford to put it into production... just in time for holocube players to come out! Hooray for progress!

Art Court Video & Animation Nation

Two more festivals with The Passenger in them, again at short notice. First up is the ArtCourtVid�O festival in Arles, France on what appears to be Friday 16th November 2007, and then Animation Nation in Singapore for what I gather to be two screenings - 11:00am, Sunday 25th of November and 9:00pm, Tuesday 27th of November 2007 (I had to do some sleuthing myself to find out these details, so you might want to double check rather than take my word for it).

The Making Of The Passenger - Part 1

How does somebody spend years of their life pushing little dots around a screen and playing the same noises repeatedly without losing their marbles? What does it take to get those little dots and noises onto a bigger screen? And why would anyone want to do something like that anyway? Beats me, read this and let me know if you can figure it out.

Next stop: the Calgary International Film Festival in Alberta, Canada. See The Passenger as part of the "Spotlight Australia: Short Film Series" on Sunday September 23rd at 1:30pm at the Globe Theatre, as well as "A Taste of the Animated World" on Friday September 28th at 9:00pm at the Plaza Theatre.

The Passenger Heads Back to Bendigo

This is a bit last minute, but La Trobe University's Animation Media Arts Festival will be presenting The Passenger in Bendigo on Saturday 11th of August. Small auditorium - limited seats - get in fast!

Dont expect to see me there though, I've got the flu and am preoccupied with copious amounts of ... ooze.
